Winfield will major in computer science and currently spends his free time learning the intricacies of computer programming. He spent a summer interning at the Nano Science and Engineering department at the University of Alabama, where he quickly excelled beyond expectations and was eventually running his own experiments and training graduate students in lab procedures. Computer science will allow him to think creatively while still solving complex problems, a prospect which he is very excited about. He hopes to someday be able to donate computers to small schools so that students can pursue higher learning online, and to be able to open a center where youth will be able to learn about and use cutting edge technology.
