Tanya Stockdale

Tanya serves as an officer in Club E.L.I.T.E.S (Estudiantes Latinos Trabajando por una Educacion Superior), a club that supports the learning experience of Latino students in high school. Tanya explains that many Latino students are discouraged from pursuing high education due to their citizenship status, below-average grades and test scores, and a lack of educational funding. Tanya’s goal is to incite excitement in Latino students so that they look forward to improving their future. She has organized events for Latino students and parents to learn about scholarships, the college admissions process, and local universities. Tanya was one fifty girls selected nationwide to participate in the ANNpower Vital Voices Initiative, a leadership forum held in Washington, D.C.
