Michael began efforts to assist others in overcoming adversity as an elementary school student when he established “Solidarity Day” to raise money and awareness for cancer research. He has partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and raised over $1,450 by creating online donation pages, receiving donations from local businesses, and hosting charity events such as golf tournaments. As a volunteer at the University of Miami’s Biomedical Research Center, Michael assisted the addiction team in examining the neural mechanisms of addiction and developing strategies to treat the disorder. He is currently working on an independent research project that focuses on eradicating drug addiction through memory extinction. Michael served as his school’s Future Business Leaders of America chapter president and District vice president and was the First Place Winner in the FBLA District Business Financial Plan Competition in 2014. He is the recipient of the 2013 Harvard Model Congress San Francisco Award of Excellence. He will attend the Wharton School of Business and major in Applied Mathematics and Economics.
