Micaela regularly volunteers at the Family Promise homeless shelter. Upon noticing the need for a renovation of the shelter’s Resource Center, Micaela began researching fundraising methods and gathering volunteers to revamp the center. Micaela wrote letters and presented the project to the community, churches, and hardware stores. At 16 years old Micaela raised over $4,000 and completely renovated the Family Promise homeless shelter’s Resource Center. Micaela explains that she and the other volunteers had become a family by the project’s end. Micaela is the Music Mentors vice president, a Girl Scout Ambassador Scout, and member of the Symphony Orchestra.
