Katherine has studied leadership psychology and was eager to exercise her strengths of listening and encouraging others. After being elected as the Student Council president, Katherine worked with her councilmembers to create care packages for American troops in Afghanistan. Katherine and other members of the Student Council contacted troop squadrons to inquire about the needs of the troops, and they calculated the cost on international shipping. To raise funding, the Student Council held a Christmas party for elementary students. The Council received enough money for shipping costs and more gifts and letters to troops than expected. Katherine is also the senior editor of the yearbook, and she is a chef and a baker.
