Jothi Ramaswamy is a freshman in Harvard University’s class of 2023. As a fervent STEMinist and STEAM advocate, she encourages girls to combine their artistic passions with STEM, hence STEAM, through her nonprofit organization ThinkSTEAM. Jothi herself is a passionate coder and app developer with two apps published on the iOS App Store. In fact, Jothi has been named a 2017, 2018, and 2019 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) Scholar and has received a free ticket to WWDC, where Apple announces its biggest software releases of the year. She has done machine learning and bioinformatics research for the past two summers at IBM and Columbia University’s Jerome L. Greene Science Center. Jothi is an avid track and cross country runner, violinist, and debater who enjoys discussing current world issues with other students. As a part of Girls Inc Westchester’s Girls Leadership Council, Jothi enjoys meeting with other empowering women to learn how to combat issues in her community, and has helped develop a Girls Inc documentary on domestic violence. Jothi is really excited to be win the Greg Goff Leadership Award and she thanks NSHSS for this honor.
