Haeley Johnston

Haeley joined Technology Student Association (TSA) six years ago. She had been successful in TSA as a middle school student. The organization affords students the opportunity to compete in STEM events at the local, state, and national level. The high school in which Haeley planned to enroll lacked a TSA chapter, but she contacted each of the school’s STEM educators to inquire of their interest in serving as the club advisor. Haeley founded her school’s TSA chapter during her freshman year, and she became a state officer before her sophomore year. She has served as the state reporter, state vice president, and she is currently the state president. Haeley has lobbied for additional STEM funding, attended national TSA conferences, and hosted state TSA conferences. She was selected from 234,000 members to receive the Dr. Bob Hanson Distinguished Student Award during the 2015 TSA National Conference. Haeley is one of five Washington CTE Scholars, and she is a Presidential Scholar nominee. Haeley has participated in Project Biotech, and she will major in biochemistry.
