Dora will go to college to major in chemical engineering. Dora was a two-time participant in the UCLA SMARTS Program. She completed a summer internship at UCLA in the Chemical and Biomolecular engineering department. She is president of her school’s Hispanic Professional Engineers Jr. Chapter. Dora has observed through her participation in the sciences that females are underrepresented in the field, and she has volunteered to try and balance the scales. She is a mentor to elementary and middle school girls and tries to interest them in the sciences. She hopes to show by example that women belong in STEM fields.
