A third grade trip to a sea turtle hospital changed Casey’s life forever. She began baking and selling turtle shaped cookies to raise money for the hospital. Casey equates the progression of her organization, Love A Sea Turtle, to the “slow and steady” growth of a sea turtle. Casey began Love A Sea Turtle with the intent to protect sea turtles, but she now offers free STEM summer camps for at-risk youth, year-round programs to increase her community’s comprehension of environmentalism, and leadership development programs. Last summer, Casey led high school students on a 100 mile kayak that involved data collection, water testing, and river awareness activities.
